Summary:

      In this thesis, for soil-structure interaction systems subject to dynamic effects, soil boundaries on which the boundary conditions applied on semi-infinite soil medium are effective are determined. For this purpose as a numerical application, Sarıyar concrete gravity dam which is a deeply embedded massive structure subjected to soil-structure interaction was chosen. Dynamic analysis of soil-structure interaction analytical models of Sarıyar dam was performed by using traditional boundaries, viscous boundaries which absorb P and S waves occured in soil with dynamic effects and transmitting boundaries which absorb Rayleigh waves and include dynamic rigidity matrices of semi-infinite soil medium on the soil boundaries.

This thesis consist of five chapters. The first chapter includes a literature survey associated with soil-structure interaction ve soil boundary conditions. The formulations related solution methods of the soil-structure interaction systems including boundary conditions used in this thesis are given. In the second chapter, for Sarıyar dam, dam-reservoir interaction, soil-structure interaction and considered parameters are explained and soil-structure interaction analytical models are given in details. The third chapter, the findings obtained from the analyses are given. The conclusions and recommendations deducated from the analyses are given in chapter four. Finally, the references are presented in the fifth chapter.
