      Socket foundations are commonly used in precast constructions. Precast concrete components that are prepared beforehand are transported to build sites and columns are assembled to previously prepared socket foundations by the cast-in-place concrete technique.

It is fairly obvious, that transferring vertical loads and horizontal loads which are generated by earthquake and wind effects to socket foundation is quite important in terms of the stability of structures. It is hard to suggest a specific type of socket foundation connection because there is not a sufficient number of study in this field in technical literature and moreover those studies rely on pre-acceptances.

      The main purpose of this study is to ascertain the type of socket connection which shows the closest behavior to real monolithic column-foundation connection. To this end, studies have been made on five different types of column-foundation connections and in these studies, results in column-socket connection interface were observed by applying cyclical lateral load under single axis bending. None axial load was applied on columns in experiments. The connection type which showed the closest result to monolithic connection was confirmed via cyclical graphs.
