      In this study, the Ilısu Dam with a maximum capacity of 1200 MW have been analyzed. Data was collected for analysis on issues related to the study. Dam’s height, terrain features, topograpyh, population density and resorvoir area of Ilısu Dam were taken into account.

General information section, main purposu of study is stated, and the dam – enviroment relationships were examined. The studies section, information about dams were given. Hasankeyf Country that is the only urban settlement effected by the Ilısu Dam Project was introduced and the project’s characteristics were given.

      In the symptoms section, the Ilısu Dam Project costs related to; environmental impact, GHG emissions, crop production losses, loss of life that may occur, land losses, people’s re-settlements, relocation roads, historic and archaeological sites and the energy transmission lines that change was calculated by taking into consideration.

Cost of the environmental impacts of the Ilısu Dam is calculated as 1,697.192 $ (2,376.069 TL) per MWh electricity produced. Calculated costs of environmental impacts are compared with the costs of construction and revenue gained from energy production. Time required to amortize its cost by energy production is determined as 6.5 years approximately.
