It is known that silos and other stock structures which are special structures have beenconstructed due to many reasons such as to storage raw and processed materials or
industrial materials and making fill.Many parameters such as material type, degree of jamming, filling velocity, height of
falling during filling, discharge type and discharge velocity, geometrical and mechanicalproperties of stock structures affect the equilibrium conditions of stock materials. In this
case, it is clear that determination of optimum ones among design methods related to sometheories for design of each class making classification for stock structures.
The basic purpose of this study is to clarify some main methods using same symbolssystematically and to prepare some tables and charts which facilitate application of
developed a general approach after that putting forward its basic principles withrecommended method in Turkish Silo Code.
This study carried out for this purpose consists of three main chapters and an appendix.Classification of real stock structures, stock materials, mechanical definitions, applied
loads on silo which is one of a real stock type are explained in Chapter One. Some theoriesfor estimation of material pressures during stable conditions and their comparisons, some
information related to material pressures during filling and discharging of silos, generalapproach for stresses in stock materials, explanation of relations between this theory and
Turkish Silo Code and some tables and charts which facilitate application of methoddefined in This code are given in Chapter Two.
Chapter three is reserved for conclusions and recommendations and this chapter isfollowed by references, and appendix and curriculum vitae of author.
As a result of this study, it is shown constituent of recommended method defined inTurkish Silo Code and some tables and charts which facilitate practical usage of this
