The frequent occurence of destructive earthquakes in Turkey appeers the necessity to estimate dynamic behaviour of existing and new buildings. When the behaviour of buildings are subjectted to earthquake beyond elastic limits, nonlinear behaviours is needed to be considered. Therefore, in the proposed study, the pushover static analysis, taking into account nonlinear behaviours, are carried out for sample buildings.
Two main purposes are selected fort the study such as to investigate earthquake performance of reinforced concrete buildings with ribbed slabs and to show applications of requirement related to performance of buildings recomended by the new earthquake code. The study carried out for these purposes consist of five chapter. In the first chapter, the aim and scope of the study is given. The definititions, parameters and concepts most newly used for structures and performance evaluation are presented in the second chapter. In the same chapter, the information, and analysis methods related to pushover analysis are given considering the requirements by Turkish Earthquake Code which will be implemeted on March 2007. In the thirth chapter, informative knowledges related to sample structures with ribbed slab taken into this study are given and the results obtained from pushover analysis are also given. Three different analysis programs STA4, Ide-STATIK and SAP2000 are used to show differences at results for same building. The results obtained from pushover analysis of a building with ten different story with and without fiiled matter. Evoluations of the results are discussed and illustrated in chapter 4. The conclusion and suggestion from all over the study are presented in the last chapter.
Consequently, the results of the programs SAP2000, STA4 and Ide-STATIC are compared with each other and the program STA4 gives closer results to SAP2000 than the other.
