       As known, there are a lot of codes for the design of reinforced concrete stuctures. These are mainly “Requirements for design and construction of Reinforced Concrete Stuctures (TS 500-2000)” on “Turkish Earthguake code (TEC-1998)”. It is well known that, design of reinforced concrete structures according to these codes is a necessity. However, there are some hesitonces and difficultys in the application of these codes including a lot of new requirement.

The aim of this study is to make a synthesis study on the knowlodges required for the design of reinforced concrete building according to current code and than to give some result and suggestions by using these knowledge for a design of an example building. For this aim, this study consist of three sections. In the first section, general knowledges section, horizontal and vertical loads effecting the element of reinforced concrete buildings, calculating of cross-sections forces and design of these elemants are given.

       In the second section, desing of a reinforced concrete building is mode by using the knowlodges given in previous section for on example. And than the results obtained in this study are given in the concerning tables.

This study show that, to provide the conditions given in the current codes for the design of reinforced concrete building and to reduce the process time, selecting of support system especially layout arrangement of vertical support system, symmetry, horizontal and vertical continuity are very important.
